Against the Pandemic: How is the struggle of street vendors in the face of the Covid-19 crisis?

In July 2020, the City of São Paulo announced that street vendors could return to work. To discuss the challenges of the street vendor population, the Gaspar Garcia Human Rights Center promoted a live, on July 22, 2020, with the theme “Against the pandemic: how the fight of street vendors is going in the face of the Covid-19 crisis” ?” The participants were: Margarida Bernardina dos Santos Ramos, street vendor in the Brás region, member of the Forum of Street Vendors and of UNICAB – National Union of Workers Street vendors, street vendors and market vendors in Brazil; Maira Villas-BôasVannuchi, master in urban and regional planning from the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning - IPPUR of UFRJ and organizer of StreetNet International for the Americas and Ana Lídia Aguiar: sociologist, professor at the State Education Network in the South Zone and doctoral student in Sociology at the University of São Paulo. The mediation was by Benedito Roberto Barbosa, a lawyer at the Gaspar Garcia Center for Human Rights, coordinator at the Union of Housing Movements of São Paulo (UMMSP) and the Central dos Movimentos Populares (CMP).
