The Security Observatories Network is “an initiative of academic institutions and civil society from Bahia, Ceará, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo dedicated to monitoring public security policies and crime in these states”. The Network carried out a survey on police operations in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in March this year, and found a 23% reduction in the number of operations, compared to the same month in 2019.
