Citizen Marco Mendes created this petition as a way to demand real actions to value health professionals on the front line of combating Covid-19 who found themselves in a difficult reality that put them at risk. The author notes that there are difficulties for some of these professionals to resort to temporary disability insurance, as there are clauses that exempt payment because it is a pandemic.
The proposal of the petition is the subject of Bill 3.191/2020 , which deals with the exemption from payment of Income Taxes (IR) in the base year 2020/21, due to the performance in the pandemic, for frontline health professionals (doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, physiotherapists, psychologists, etc.). According to the author, the rule would be similar to the support that American soldiers receive when they go to war, and that would be a similar incentive to “lift the morale of the troops“!
