Civil society organizations have launched the campaign “Safe Elections – Democracy is an essential activity”. The goal is to request that the voting to elect mayors and council members take place this year, in order to avoid extending current mandates. The entities involved believe that the possibility of postponing the election to next year could set “absolutely undesirable precedents for the functioning of our democratic system”.
