Citizen Danilo Tomic created this online petition , which was not the only one, requesting the suspension of bill payments. This was the only one with more than 50,000 signatures directed to the federal parliament and not to governors and mayors.
Due to the quarantine, many people lost their jobs, income, or even had their employment contracts suspended or temporarily reduced. Faced with this scenario, there was pressure to suspend payments for water, electricity, and gas – essential items during this pandemic!
The petition's author emphasized that France has adopted measures to protect and reassure the population regarding these charges. The petition, which garnered over 306,000 supporting signatures, is directly related to Bill 3641/2020 , which is still awaiting deliberation in the Chamber of Deputies and which, in April, had only 17 supporting signatures for its processing.
